Dentistry today is very dynamic. A lot of changes have been brought about in the past ten years mainly due to the advances in material development, particularly in the field of adhesive dentistry, and a deeper understanding of the biological aspects that explain why clinicians do what they do when they treat a patient. Patients on the other hand have also evolved quite a lot. They are now more discerning about what they want for their oral health and are more exposed to what is possible. Social media has indeed bridged the gap between the world of patients and the dentists – the modern patients are now interested in what their dentists do, what credentials they carry, and what philosophy they believe in.
